Thank You Nevada County Republicans!!!

By Rich Ulery, on Nov 7, 2012

I've had a few moments to reflect this morning after a most discouraging night. All the excitement and anticipation that we all felt in the months leading up to this election were quickly dissipated for me when Fox News put Ohio in the Obama column. We lost ground in the Senate and may lose a couple of seats in the House, and we may even see the Democrats secure a 2/3 supermajority in both houses of the California legislature.

So, where is the sun shining this morning?? Well, we can only control so much in Nevada County, but in Nevada County, we did control and we controlled big! Here's our county success story:

We delivered Nevada County to Mitt Romney
We delivered Nevada County to Elizabeth Emken
We delivered Nevada County to Doug LaMalfa
We delivered Nevada County to Brian Dahle
We delivered Nevada County to Jim Nielsen
We delivered Nevada County to Ted Gaines
We delivered Nevada County to Republican supported positions on Props 30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 37, 38, 39, and 40.
We delivered Grass Valley City Council to Jan Arbuckle (and successfully denied a seat to Democratic leader Jim Firth)
We delivered seats on the NJUHSD to Katy Schwarz and Jim Adams
We delivered NCCFD board seats to Tom Carrington and Bill Habblett
We delivered the NID seat to Scott Miller
We delivered a Truckee Tahoe Airport District seat to Thomas Van Berkem
We delivered a Truckee Donner PUD seat to Bob Ellis

In summary, 14 of 17 NCRCC endorsed candidates won their races with Nevada County voters and NCRCC endorsed positions were successful in 9 of 11 ballot propositions with Nevada County voters. And, while we must still await final turnout results, I'm confident that we'll again lead the state with Republican turnout. A special thank you for the extraordinary leadership of Camille Hall and Deborah Wilder for their Precinct Org. and Get Out the Vote efforts. They were tireless.

But the biggest thank you goes to all of you -- our fabulous Republican leaders and volunteers who made thousands of phone calls, staffed our exciting campaign HQ, answered phones, registered voters, walked neighborhoods, designed flyers, wrote letters to the editor, helped with fundraising etc., etc., etc. You should all be incredibly proud of the results in our county that YOU produced.

The drive to re-establish our Republican principles in this state and country will continue. So, while we are extremely disappointed with the broad results of yesterday's election, we can be proud of the example we have set for Republicans in other California counties and around the nation to emulate. Thank you for a job well done!
